Privacy Policy for XCLingual Studio

1. Overview
XCLingual Studio is a macOS app developed by TFaces Studio. This Privacy Policy explains how XCLingual Studio handles information when you use the app, including information stored on your device, information synced through your iCloud account, and information sent to external AI model service providers that you choose to configure.

XCLingual Studio is designed for developers and localization teams working with Xcode String Catalog files. The app lets users open and manage project files, edit translations, maintain a local and user-extended translation database, and optionally send selected translation content to configured AI model providers for batch translation and arbitration.
2. Data Collection
XCLingual Studio does collect certain data as part of its core functionality. XCLingual Studio does not sell your data, does not share your data for advertising, and does not track you across apps or websites.
Data the app collects
The app may collect or process the following categories of data:
User-selected files and project data
- The app can open, reference, read, and write
.xcstrings files and .xclstudio project packages in locations you choose.
- This access is limited to files and folders you explicitly select.
User translation entries
- If you use iCloud sync, your user-created translation entries are stored in CloudKit and synced across your devices signed into the same iCloud account.
Provider configuration data
- If you configure external AI model providers, the app stores the configuration locally on your device.
- This may include API endpoints, model settings, and API keys or other credentials you provide.
Translation request content
- When you use AI-assisted translation features, the app sends the text you choose to translate, and related context needed for translation, to the external provider you configured.
- This may include source strings, target language information, comments, semantic tags, and other prompt content generated by your workflow.
Connectivity and service interaction data
- When testing provider connections or requesting AI translations, the app connects directly from your device to the configured service endpoint.
Data the app does not collect
XCLingual Studio does not collect:
- Advertising identifiers
- Precise location
- Health data
- Financial payment card data
- Contacts
- Photos or media library data, unless included by you in files you choose to open
- Cross-app or cross-site tracking data
- Analytics data for advertising purposes
Data use
The data described above is used only to provide the app's features, including:
- Opening, editing, and saving localization files
- Maintaining user translation entries
- Syncing user translation entries through iCloud
- Sending selected text to configured AI services for translation or arbitration
- Importing and exporting provider configuration data
- Testing configured provider connectivity
Data sharing
TFaces Studio does not sell personal data and does not share your data with data brokers or advertisers.
However, if you choose to use AI-assisted translation, the content you submit for translation is transmitted to the third-party provider you configured. That transmission is necessary to provide the requested translation service and is controlled by your configuration choices.
Retention and deletion
- Local project references, provider configurations, and local app data remain on your device until you delete them, remove the app, or clear the relevant files.
- User translation entries synced through CloudKit remain in your iCloud storage until you delete those entries or stop using iCloud sync.
- Files you edit remain in their original user-selected locations unless you delete or modify them.
- Data sent to third-party AI providers is subject to those providers' own retention and deletion practices under their privacy policies and service terms.
3. API Keys / Credentials
XCLingual Studio allows you to configure external AI model providers.
- API keys, endpoints, and related provider settings are stored locally on your device.
- These credentials are used by the app to authenticate requests to the providers you configure.
- TFaces Studio does not operate these third-party AI services and does not receive your API keys unless a provider's own service transmits data directly under its normal operation.
- Anyone with access to your unlocked device or local backups may be able to access locally stored configuration data, depending on your system security settings.
- You are responsible for managing, rotating, and revoking your provider credentials as needed.
If you export provider settings, the exported file may contain sensitive configuration information. You should store and share such files carefully.
4. Third-Party Services

5. Cloud Storage
XCLingual Studio supports cloud sync through CloudKit.
What syncs through iCloud
- User-created translation entries used to extend or override the built-in translation database
What does not sync through iCloud unless you manually place it there
- API keys and provider credentials
- Provider endpoint settings and local provider configurations
.xcstrings files.xclstudio project packages- Imported or exported configuration files
- Other local app data not specifically stored in CloudKit
CloudKit sync occurs through your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple's iCloud and CloudKit infrastructure.
6. Local Storage
XCLingual Studio stores certain data locally on your device to function properly. This may include:
- Provider configurations
- API keys and credentials for configured AI services
- User preferences and app settings
- Local project metadata and references
- Imported or exported provider configuration files
- Cached working data related to project and translation tasks
- User-selected files and any modifications you save back to those files
The app also includes a bundled built-in translation database as part of the app package.
7. In-App Purchases
XCLingual Studio offers in-app purchases for premium functionality.
- All payments for in-app purchases are processed by Apple.
- TFaces Studio does not receive your full payment card number or payment credentials.
- Apple may share limited transaction information with the developer, such as purchase status, subscription status if applicable, country or region, or anonymized transaction records needed to provide the purchased features.
- Purchases are subject to Apple's privacy policy and terms.
8. Children's Privacy
XCLingual Studio is intended for developers, localization engineers, and app teams. It is not directed to children under the age of 13.
TFaces Studio does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to investigate and address the issue.
9. Changes to Policy
TFaces Studio may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements, or data practices.
When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of XCLingual Studio after an updated policy becomes effective indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
