This Privacy Policy describes how CoffeePantry ("the App," "we," "our") handles information when you use our application. CoffeePantry helps you track the freshness of your specialty coffee beans — roast dates, resting (degassing) periods, peak flavor windows and fading — manage a bean cellar (ambient shelf and freezer single-dose slots), log your brews, and get reminded when a bean reaches its peak or starts to fade.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy applies to all users of the CoffeePantry iOS application.
CoffeePantry does not collect, share, or track any personal data on our own servers. We operate no servers at all.
Specifically:
No personal information is collected by us — We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
No usage analytics are collected by us — We do not collect analytics, diagnostics, crash reports, or usage statistics ourselves.
No advertising — The App contains no advertisements and no advertising SDKs.
No data is sold or shared by us — We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.
No tracking by us — CoffeePantry does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Your coffee bean data (names, roasters, origins, brew methods, weights, roast dates, storage locations such as ambient shelf or freezer slots, freshness states, brew logs, notes, photos) is stored locally on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, this data syncs across your devices via Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database). Data in your iCloud private database is controlled by you and governed by Apple's privacy policy; we cannot access it.
The App requests the following permissions only when you use the related feature:
Camera — Used for photographing coffee bags. Photos and video frames are processed on-device and are never uploaded.
Microphone — Used for voice entry, so you can add a bean by speaking (e.g. "Ethiopia Guji, Onyx, roasted September first").
Speech Recognition — Voice input is converted to text using Apple's Speech framework. Recognition runs on-device where the device supports it; on devices without on-device speech recognition, it falls back to Apple's speech service (audio is processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy). In either case we receive nothing and store nothing on any server of ours — we operate none.
On-device OCR — Bag text is read with Apple Vision, entirely on-device. OCR reads the printed text and surfaces name and roaster suggestions only; it never reads roast dates or weights — those are picked and confirmed by you in the entry form.
Declining any of these permissions only disables the corresponding input method; manual entry always works.
On devices with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26+), voice-transcript parsing, bag-text distillation and freshness estimation use Apple's Foundation Models framework running entirely on-device. No prompts, transcripts, images or results ever leave the device. On devices without Apple Intelligence, the App uses its built-in rule-based parser instead — the same features work, also fully on-device.
The App uses local notifications only, scheduled on your device: a reminder on the first peak day of a bean and on the day its fading begins (both at 9:00). Beans stored in the freezer receive no reminders until they return to the bar. No push notification service is used and no notification data leaves your device.
Optional Pro upgrades (monthly and yearly subscriptions, and a lifetime one-time purchase) are processed entirely by Apple App Store (StoreKit). We do not receive or store your payment information. Purchase status is verified on-device.
The App stores a small number of app-level counters in UserDefaults (the free-tier monthly photo-scan counter and the review-prompt counter). These never leave the device.
The App uses only Apple platform services (iCloud/CloudKit, StoreKit, UserNotifications, Speech, Vision, Foundation Models, AVFoundation, CoreSpotlight, App Intents, WidgetKit). No third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or AI SDKs are included.

You can delete any bean or brew log at any time in the App. Deleting the App removes all local data. To delete iCloud-synced data, remove the App's data in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at the URL above.
